Recently, I've noticed many restaurants and small businesses closing down around my office... A very sad sight indeed, and perhaps rightly blamed on the slow
economy of late.

   However this does not have to be the case. Business, especially small business, needs to be able to cope in any economic climate. This means be agile and able to change quickly and effectively to remain competitive and attractive to a changing market place.

   Small business always have an advantage in this regard, able to quickly change what they are doing to reflect the economy. This is where my next Recession Busting Secret comes into play...

Recession Busting Secret #5

Make Appropriate Adjustments in Products, Services, Payment Options etc, to be Attractive to Your Customers Recession or Down Economy.

   David Ogilby, one of the greatest advertisers to live, said:

"All advertising should be news. Find ways to present what you do, the service you provide, the products you sell, expressed as news."

   For example, "Revolutionary New Treatment From France Seems to Melt Ugly Cellulite and Fat Away For Almost Anybody Who Uses It"

   That's an actual headline I wrote that caused a stampede of interested women keen to find out more.

   Find ways to use what is in the news and on their minds about the economy to your advantage. This does not necessarily mean slashing prices.

   It may be message related; doing a better job, evidencing the value, savings and economy of what you sell. It may mean arranging better or more financing options, to make paying for your services easier. It may mean adding a wider price range of goods.

   Or, better still, focussing only on the products and services you sell that produce the bulk of your turnover and then do it better.

   Figure out something "NEW" in your business, and tell people about it!
