"WHO ELSE HAS REACHED A POINT OF DISSATISFACTION IN LIFE...": RESOURCES VS RESOURCEFULNESSIt's been a big year! And one of the things I do during the "silly season" is to reflect on the fundamentals of success. You see, I consult with many people at many levels of their wealth creation journey and I can tell you now that there's a common element of dissatisfaction that causes people to make big changes. At the upcoming Rebellious Millionaire Retreat, I will be discussion how you can use DISSATISFACTION as a catalyst to your first million dollars because it's the decisions and behaviours we enforce that create our external reality. All progress comes from this “dissatisfaction”. Let’s face it, without dissatisfaction we’d still be dodging horse poo in the streets and getting water from a festy well. The only reason there’s a calculator on your desk is that someone got sick of the abacus! What this means is that progress is born out of unrelenting human dissatisfaction. Rebellious “Millionaire” Entrepreneurs have made this same feeling of constant dissatisfaction their mantra and instead of feeling guilty about it, they actually use it as a catalyst to drive them to success. So if you are anything like the rest of us and suffer your own share of dissatisfaction then firstly be aware you’re boringly normal. Then realise this same depressing state is also your ticket to freedom. Most people make the big BIG mistake of waiting till they’ve got all the RESOURCES, like time, money, skill, and people. The reality is that picture perfect scenario will never happen in most people’s minds. In truth, you have all the RESOURCES you need RIGHT NOW to achieve whatever you want to achieve. What you need to become is RESOURCEFUL. Here’s a story of incredible RESOURCEFULNESS. If you are an Aussie you probably won’t know who Kenneth Cole is, he sells upmarket leather shoes and bags in the USA. Here’s his story of RESOURCEFULNESS. In 1982, he left to start his own company, then called Kenneth Cole Inc. He designed a line of shoes and hired an Italian factory to make them. Wanting to show off his wares at the industry's main trade show at a Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan he devised a plan. You see, designers had two options for showing off their products. Cole says. "You could be one of about 1,100 companies that took a little room at the Hilton. But that wasn't a great way to define yourself. Or you could set up a fancy showroom near the hotel. I clearly didn't have the money for that." So he hit upon the idea of borrowing a friend's tractor-trailer, parking it in front of the Hilton and peddling shoes from there. Unfortunately, that required a permit, which only the city could issue. "I called the mayor's office and said, 'How does someone get permission to park a 40-foot trailer on the street in New York?" And they said, 'The answer, son, is that they don't. This is New York . There are only two exceptions -- if you are a utility company doing service or a production company shooting a full-length motion picture.'" The next day, Cole changed the name of his company to Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. and filed for a permit to shoot a full-length motion picture called, The Birth of a Shoe Company. "With the mayor's blessing, I opened for business on December 2, 1982. I had two New York policemen as my doormen, compliments of the city. I sold 40,000 pairs of shoes in less than three days. "I tell that story often because we need to remind ourselves that in business and in life, the best solution isn't necessarily the most expensive one, but it's almost always the most creative one," Cole says. Now THAT’S what I call RESOURCEFULNESS. But there are a couple more points to be taken out of this and some of you aren’t going to like it. What Cole did in not taking no for an answer is break all the rules. Most of you would have stopped at the first obstacle. Certainly if you employ staff and you had given them the task of solving a Kenneth Cole-like problem they would have virtually stopped before they even got started. This is not a task you can delegate to an employee. If they were capable of solving these sorts of problems they wouldn’t be employees, they’d be doing it for themselves instead of working for you. NEVER SAY NO TO YOURSELF, MAKE SOMEONE SAY NO TO YOU Use DISSATISFACTION as the catalyst for your biggest year yet. The “Rebellious Millionaires Retreat” coming up in Melbourne in late April will recondition your wealth mindset, reprogram your behaviour for success and provide you with a blueprint for wealth acceleration and accumulation.
